The power of peace

The concept of peace is talked about and desired regardless of one’s belief system.

Nations go to war with the hope of securing peace on their borders. Value systems are fought for to bring peace. Parents long for peace in their homes. I believe it is a God given need to seek peace.

There are peaceful environments that are wonderful to be in, but there is a peace that is different from what the world can offer. Jesus said, “my peace I give you, not as the world gives.” The peace that He offers has very little to do with our circumstances though it will affect them. His peace rules and reigns above the chaos. It is this peace that changes atmospheres and brings order where there’s disorder. We see Jesus releasing the peace of heaven when he commands the storm to be still. ( Mark 4:39 )

The peace that Jesus gives is a safe guard to protect us from submitting to a spirit of fear. His peace is a Holy Spirit helmet that will protect our hearts and minds from falling prey to a spirit of fear. His peace will be what anchors us in the storms of life and keeps us stable.

Something that has been a great source of comfort for me has been the realization that His peace is always available and can never leave me because the Prince of Peace lives inside me. This means that I can always access the peace of heaven.

I can speak to inner turmoil and command it to be quiet and submit to the Prince of Peace. This did not come automatically. It was something I had to practice and still do. I can expect to walk into environments and bring His peace with me. I can release His healing peace as I pray for others because peace is the portion of every believer.

If you’re reading this and peace has felt far away and anxious thoughts have filled your mind, I want to trust God with you for change because His peace is available to you regardless of your circumstances. His peace anchors us in the fiercest of storms and calms our minds and our bodies as we look to the Prince of Peace.

Prayer :

Jesus I thank you that your peace passes all understanding and is bigger and more powerful than any circumstance. Even in turmoil I can lean into your peace because you are my Prince of Peace. I give you my anxious thoughts today and all that causes unrest in me and I choose to lean into your powerful peace.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
