He became human
“He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize. Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human! He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion! Because of that obedience, God exalted him and multiplied his greatness! He has now been given the greatest of all names!”Philippians 2:6-9 TPT
These are some of the most profound verses in scripture. Jesus, the Son of God chooses to become human, chooses to humble himself to serve us and chooses to die a criminals death on a cross. This is humility in its extreme! It’s so easy to get caught up in the importance of our positions and status, to demand privileges and recognition and yet the King of kings gave up His rightful dignity and stripped himself of the privileges of a King.
What a beautiful Savior! Because of His costly obedience, his Father exalted Him and gave Him the Name above all names, the Name at which every knee will bow and confess Him as Lord. Jesus certainly set the bar high but let’s make every effort to walk in humility with one another, to see others as better than ourselves and to trust the Lord to promote us and bless us as He sees fit. When we choose humility He can entrust us blessing.
