The God who follows us
Recently we have heard a number of testimonies of the Lords kindness and provision.
As we noted a cluster of reminders of His goodness, it felt like He was wanting to turn our attention away from what might not be happening to what is happening around us. It’s so easy to get bogged down by the very real weights that we all have to deal with in life, and forget how kind and good our Father is. Stories of His goodness always replenishes hope and faith in areas where I am trusting for a breakthrough.
Most of us are familiar with the well known Psalm 23. It is such a beautiful passage of scripture but I discovered a treasure in it that I want share with you.
“Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.” Psalm 23:6 AMPC
The Hebrew word for mercy is HESED...which is a word for a life long love based on a covenantal relationship- a steadfast and rock solid relationship.
It speaks of a completely undeserved kindness & generosity done by a person in a position of power.
It's also an action that intervenes and comes to our rescue. His love is never passive.
It denotes unswerving loyalty even when undeserved and a love that can always be counted on.
The same way that we would closely follow a small child as they are learning to walk or ride a bicycle for the very first time, our Father follows closely after us with His abounding kindness and generosity and unwavering loyalty towards us. He’s ready to come to our rescue just as we would if we saw our child about to hurt themselves. He follows us with a love that can always be counted on!
No matter where you are in life as you read this, know that you are hemmed in by His love for you and His goodness, His mercy and His unfailing love always follow you wherever you go.
