Time to open the gift!
Most of us enjoy receiving gifts that have been thoughtfully chosen by people who care about us. If I have receive a sweater that I have been wanting, and it fits me well, it would be strange if I never wore it and left it folded in my closet.
Philippians 3:16 tell us to “hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that.”
When our beautiful Savior died and rose again we attained a magnificent inheritance and a freedom that was dearly paid for. We received a very expensive gift called Righteousness. Sadly, many live lives with this gift folded away and never appropriate what is theirs.
So let’s have a look at our gift and ‘order our lives’ by what we have received. We have received full acceptance, complete forgiveness, joy, healing, authority, power, peace and rest. Condemnation, shame, judgment, heaviness, fear, to name a few are no longer ours to wear and therefore always feel uncomfortable. Jesus gave us the gift of righteousness that we don’t have to pay for, because He already paid its full measure and price. When we are in Him, it is part of our inheritance. Let’s confidently wear our robe of righteousness that has already been attained for us.
I encourage you to ask the Lord what part of your gift do you need to ‘take out of the closet’ and begin to wear.
Maybe fear & anxiety are a struggle for you. Try declaring out loud that your Father has given you His peace at all times (2Thessalonians 3:16). You can boldly wear His peace and His forgiveness and His joy, because He has given it to you as His beloved child and a co-heir with Christ.
