Embrace Your Citizenship

Recently we had the privilege of spending some time in Denmark. I think Copenhagen has become one of my favorite European cities to visit. Of course the coffee and pastries are pretty amazing too and we probably over indulged a little! We have also connected with a church and a ministry that have a special place in our hearts. We are seeing Gods grace permeate a nation and transform lives. The prophetic ministry is being stirred across the Nordic nations and churches are being built on a prophetic foundation of believing we serve a God who loves to speak to His children. We spent time with people who are laying down their lives and sacrificing much so others can thrive and know the fullness of what Jesus paid for. It was beautiful and humbling to be there.

There’s something profound about meeting people from other countries, as you find out there are many different world views and ways of thinking that maybe you haven’t considered until you hear another perspective. As we talked to people, both Christians in the various ministries as well as those we met along the way, one thing that stood out was people’s love for their own nation. Each one believed their country was the best place to live.

As I thought more about this, I was reminded that as believers in Jesus we are first and foremost citizens of heaven. We are primarily Kingdom citizens and therefore should be as passionate about the things of the Kingdom as we are about our native lands. Let’s find our more about the wonders of our heavenly citizenship and all that is ours because of it. Just as we love the coffee in Denmark, or whatever food is your favorite from your nation, let’s love the peace and joy that belongs to us. Let’s drink deep of the living water that Jesus offers that quenches our thirst forever. Let’s feed ourselves on His word and talk about the wonders of our King. As a citizen of a country, you have certain rights. As a citizen of heaven, you have the right to exercise authority in Jesus name. You have the right to healing and provision and so much more. You have access into His Presence because you’re not only a citizen but a son. You have diplomatic immunity on earth to say no to the accusations of the enemy!

Let’s embrace our Kingdom citizenship and become deeply patriotic about all that is ours in Christ!

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” - Philippians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬
