Look at me!

Have you ever taught a child to ride a bicycle or balance on a bar? To help them keep steady we tell them to look at us, and not at what is going on around them which can distract them and cause them to lose their balance and fall.

We have been in a season where there is so much screaming for both our attention and our emotions. There’s also much that demands powerful prayer and intercession. It certainly is ours to rebuke what is evil and call forth Gods righteousness and justice.

We should be calling forth deliverance for our young people from the spirit of this age that is vying for their identities and pressing against their destinies. This press begs the question, “Lord what is your great plan for the next generation that is such a threat to the enemy?” The good news is, His truth and purpose will prevail!

BUT….

Let us also not get so entangled in the present that it stirs up fear, taking our eyes off of the King of Kings and causing a ‘mission drift’ of our attention. When this happens, we become more earthly focused than heaven conscious. What we declare and what we focus on will affect our faith and hope levels.

Our God is still ruling and remains more awesome than all who surround Him. (Psalm 89:7) The heavens and the earth are still His and He has not lost control or turned His face away. Righteousness and justice remain His foundation and He will ensure that the nations become subject to both. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! His covenant of love and faithfulness will never fail.

I believe there is and invitation and even a strong directive from Holy Spirit to be those who first and foremost declare His great love and faithfulness, and make His greatness known to this generation and the generations to come. David said, “with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness through all generations” (Psalm 89:1)

Let’s be a people who stay steady and keep our balance because our eyes are focused on Him, the author and perfecter of our faith.

“In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him. Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭89:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭89:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬
